So you’re considering a challenge that’s too big not to die for, now what?
That’s not meant to turn you back from the starting line, but it is to get you to count the costs before you begin. If you’re feeling a little trepidation, that’s OK. Read through the information on this website, but as you do, keep a couple of key thoughts in your mind.
First, God is more concerned about your character than your comfort. His goal is to conform you into the likeness of His Son (Romans 8:29). Yes, He loves you the way you are, but He loves you too much to let you stay that way. You have too many people to impact for His Kingdom that you can’t influence until more of Christ is seen in you.
I’m not writing to brand-new followers of Christ here. It’s not just the newly-planted that need deeper roots. Even if you’re a tree planted by the river of God whose leaves produce fruit in their season, your roots need to continue to reach towards the rich nutrients the river brings. Your branches need to continue to stretch towards the life-giving sun.
A tree grows towards the light, but it will never reach the sun. We’re all on a journey and we’ll never be able to say, “I’ve arrived.” Nebuchadnezzar said that while on a roof in Babylon, and look what happened the next seven years of his life.
So remember, all of us can become more like Christ – that’s the great adventure we’re on.
Secondly, as you read the introductory thoughts on this website, realize you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. The work that He’s begun in you, He’ll be faithful to complete. God doesn’t give you a test so you can fail. Even though negativity is one of the toughest things you can fast from, you can do it! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive within you (Ephesians 1:17-20).
With these thoughts in mind, take some time to examine some of the questions
around a fast from negativity as well as strategies for some of the battlegrounds
you'll be facing. You can even check out what others have said
about fasting from negativity. Then sign up for the daily emails that will encourage you as you bring every thought, word and action into obedience in Christ.
We're praying and pulling for you.
